HOW WE BEGAN

Chimdi

Chimdi

It all started when...

Clara was laboring with Chimdi in the small town of Lamar, CO.  Stewart was the physician on call.   It came to pass that a Cesarean delivery was necessary. Clara, her uncle Fr. John Nkwocha and the family members back in Nguru, Nigeria were fearful for, literally, her life. All went well!

Later Terrie and Stewart learned from them of the huge maternal mortality rate for women having Cesarean deliveries from their village. John had had a dream of opening a maternity and children's clinic in his hometown of Egbelu, Nigeria, for many years.  He was in the process of buying a plot of land and had started an NGO, Beatitude Care Center.  Terrie and Stewart's heartstrings were touched and they decided to become part of John's dream for a maternal care center in their home villages in Nigeria.

Thus Beatitude Care Foundation was born to support the establishment of the clinic in Egbelu.
